Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 4, 2025

Introduction

Welcome to KennWilliamson.org. This is a personal website operated by Kenn Williamson (that's me—"I," "me," or "my" throughout these terms). By using this site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

These terms are written to be understandable, not to bury you in legalese. They exist to protect both of us and set clear expectations about how the site works.

Who Can Use This Site

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, you should have parental permission. By creating an account, you're confirming that you meet these requirements.

Your Account

Account Creation

To use certain features, you'll need to create an account. When you do:

  • Provide accurate information (especially your email address)
  • Choose a secure password
  • Keep your login credentials confidential
  • Let me know immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

Your Responsibility

You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. If someone else uses your account because you didn't keep it secure, that's on you. Choose a good password and don't share it.

Acceptable Use

This is pretty simple: use the site for its intended purposes and don't be malicious. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Break any laws or regulations
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Post spam, malware, or other harmful content
  • Attempt to hack, exploit, or compromise the site's security
  • Scrape, crawl, or automatically collect data from the site without permission
  • Use the site to distribute viruses, malware, or other malicious code
  • Impersonate other people or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
  • Interfere with other users' ability to use the site
  • Use the site for any commercial purpose without my explicit permission

If you're not sure whether something is acceptable, err on the side of caution or just ask me.

Your Content

Ownership

You own the content you create on this site—your incident timers, phrase suggestions, profile information, and anything else you post. I don't claim ownership of your content.

License to Use

However, by posting content, you grant me a license to use it for the site's operation. This means I can:

  • Store and display your content as part of the site features
  • Make your content publicly accessible if you choose to share it (like public timers)
  • Make technical copies for backups and site operations

This license ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for content you've explicitly made public (which may remain visible but disassociated from your account).

Your Responsibility

You're responsible for the content you post. Don't post anything illegal, infringing on others' rights, or violating these terms. I reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or is otherwise problematic.

My Content and Intellectual Property

The site itself—the code, design, features, and any content I create—belongs to me. This includes:

  • The site's source code and architecture
  • The visual design and user interface
  • Any content I write (about pages, documentation, etc.)
  • The "KennWilliamson.org" name and branding

You're welcome to use the site, but you can't copy, modify, or redistribute the site itself without my permission. If you're interested in using parts of it for your own projects, just ask—I'm generally open to it if you credit me and don't use it for anything sketchy.

Disclaimer: Use at Your Own Risk

Here's the legally required part: This site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. In plain English:

  • I don't guarantee the site will always work perfectly or be available 24/7
  • I don't guarantee it's completely bug-free or secure (though I try my best)
  • I don't guarantee any particular outcome from using the site
  • Use the site at your own risk

This is a personal project. I maintain it in my spare time while raising three kids and working full-time. I'll do my best to keep it running well, but I can't make legally binding promises about uptime or performance.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I'm not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site. This includes:

  • Lost data or content
  • Loss of profits or business opportunities
  • Service interruptions or bugs
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

If, despite this limitation, I'm found liable for something, my total liability is limited to $100 or the amount you paid me (which is probably $0, since this is a free site), whichever is less.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these kinds of limitations, so they may not apply to you. But I'm putting them here because they're standard practice for personal projects.

Indemnification

If you do something with this site that gets me sued or causes legal problems, you agree to cover my costs and defend me. This includes if you post illegal content, violate someone's rights, break these terms, or otherwise cause legal trouble through your use of the site.

Termination

You Can Leave Anytime

You can delete your account at any time through your profile settings. When you do, your account data will be permanently deleted immediately (see the Privacy Policy for details).

I Can Terminate Accounts

I reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the site if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in harmful behavior. I'll try to give you notice when practical, but I can terminate access immediately if necessary (for example, if you're actively attacking the site or other users).

Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms as the site evolves. If I make significant changes, I'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top and notify you via email if you have an account. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.

If you don't agree with the changes, you should stop using the site and delete your account.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

That said, if there's a problem, please reach out to me first. I'd much rather work something out than end up in court. I'm approachable and reasonable, and most issues can be resolved with a conversation.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms still apply. The unenforceable part will be modified to be enforceable while preserving the original intent as much as possible.

Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and me regarding your use of this site. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.

Questions or Concerns

If you have questions about these terms or concerns about your use of the site:

Email: legal@kennwilliamson.org
Website: kennwilliamson.org

A Final Note: I know legal documents are tedious, but they're necessary to protect both of us. The spirit of these terms is simple: treat the site and other users with respect, don't do anything illegal or harmful, and we'll get along fine. If you have questions or concerns, I'm a real person and you can actually reach me. I'll respond honestly and try to work things out reasonably.
